Singer Lana Del Rey is pretty confident that she would be the perfect choice when it comes to composing a melody catered to the specific needs of the most famous super spy in the world.
Del Rey was ready to lend her pipes and skills to the latest blockbuster installment of the neverending franchise but there was just one problem – nobody asked.
But someone else received the call – Sam Smith was mandated with the enviable task of subjecting his vocals to Writing’s on the Wall – the morosely strewn theme song for Spectre.
Although Smith was adequate in his delivery, Del Rey is still quite bummed that nobody cared to consider her especially since she already did most of the work. The endearingly complex songbird points out that either one of her two songs, 24, and Swan Song – from her last album would’ve evoked the spirit of past participants, including icon Shirley Bassey who swayed us with her performance of 1964’s Goldfinger as well as Adele who Bond actor Daniel Craig personally commissioned for the Oscar-winning ballad Skyfall.
Now if only Craig can do the same for Rey who is ready and willing to pick up the mantle but just needs to be invited to the exclusive club. “I would’ve done it if I was asked but I wasn’t asked”. “I love all of the Bond music that’s been put out over the years and I love soundtracks in general”.
Well – there you have it. Someone please give this girl a call! We can vouch that Del Rey would do a sensational job. Anybody have Daniel Craig’s direct line?
