James Bond is back! After a not so spiffy outing with 2012’s Skyfall, the Englishman with the sexiest code name in the world is returning this winter in Spectre and we are guessing that this time around – all bets are off.
The best thing about the weirdly formatted Skyfall was the theme song and that’s only because prized songstress Adele was assigned the task, which she brilliantly tackled.
Singer-songwriter Sam Smith who has spent a good portion of 2015 enjoying the sweet smell of success with his uber hit – Stay with Me apparently accepted the call to duty that required him to apply his definitive vocal cords to the theme song for the 24th installment in the Bond series.
The result is Writing’s On The Wall and Smith couldn’t wait to share it online for eager and inquiring fans. By no means does this entrée match the spectacular offering unleashed by Adele not too long ago, in fact to be rather blunt – it doesn’t particularly fulfill all the necessary requirements of a stirringly captivating tune. It’s just adequate enough not to be classified a complete dud.
Perhaps it’s the lack of dramatics in the tone that fails to match Smith’s vocal dedication – and as a result we end up feeling robbed and a bit weathered.
But you can find for yourself by streaming it on Spotify or bite the bullet and purchase it on iTunes.
If you’re not wowed don’t be discouraged because in just a matter of weeks – Daniel Crag will dazzle us in Spectre, which hits theaters on November 6.
