Trendy Report: Highlights from The 44th NAACP Image Awards

The 44^th NAACP Image Awards took place last week and it was nostalgic slide show of impeccable talents clamoring for the opportunity to bequeath each other with honor and praises.

The top winners of the night included actress Kerry Washington who impressively garnered three awards, including a shout out to her humanitarian efforts on behalf of President Obama. Denzel Washington, Don Cheadle, Viola Davis and Samuel L. Jackson were also adequately recognized.

Comedian Steve Harvey was the MC for the night and as always he coated the show with his particular brand of genius. It was a balanced presentation with the right doses of light-hearted fare and heavy-duty passages.

One of the major highlights was the exchange between veterans Sir Sidney Poitier and Harry Belafonte as the latter was presented with the Spingarn Medal, which happens to be the most coveted award offered by the NAACP.
