After holding the world hostage over the weekend and being the dominant subject of conversation all week along – as a result of staging her most ambitious and personal project to date – Beyonce is now immersed in the first leg of her Formation World Tour that began Wednesday evening in Miami.
This past Saturday, the Grammy-winning singer took over HBO and debuted an hour long special titled Lemonade which turned out to be an affectingly intimate celebration of the glory and thunder that accompanies the existence of black women.
It was also a shockingly transparent admission into the lives of the couple that most consider hip-hop royalty – as fans were hit with a slew of hints that echoed the themes of betrayal and spiritual healing.
Whether or not the rumors of infidelity were validated – the overwhelming realization is that Beyonce is finally comfortable enough in her own skin to encourage other black women to feel the same way.
This was heralded back in February when Formation became the anthem of choice after a spectacular showcase during the Super bowl Halftime Show.
And now, just four days after her serving up her most delightful and infectious confection – she is hitting the road for a 41-day tour that will take her all over the country and the world.
First stop – Miami – where she electrified with staple hits that included – Formation, Sorry, Run the World and Baby Boy.
The proud Texan also celebrated the memory of Prince – by giving the deceased icon’s beloved signature – Purple Rain – the ultimate treatment. Her melodious homage paid off as the audience eagerly joined in the tribute.
The show came to a fitting end as Jay Z who was spotted earlier at the venue – received a loving shout out from his superstar wife who also included daughter Blue Ivy in her salute as she dedicated Halo to her two favorite people.
“I want to dedicate this song to my beautiful husband. I love you so much. Blue, I love you so much.”
If you’re still in the dark and desperately need to be given a splash of the magic potion that is Lemonade – you’re best bet is to head over to Tidal as it is still the only place that offers the ability to stream the entire album.
Pandora also added the songs to its roster and iTunes offers the option to purchase the tracks.
In the meantime – The Formation tour will make stops in major cities in the U.S. and Europe –with the grand finale erupting in Barcelona, Spain – Aug. 3, 2016.
