After much speculation, it has been confirmed that Queen Bey will be back to wow us yet again at the Super Bowl halftime show.
Once British supergroup Coldplay were announced as the official performers for the halftime slot – social media went into freeze mode as most wondered if this mandated choice could live up to the expectations and demands that we’ve all come to accept as the norm.
Perhaps the rumblings of unconvinced users gave producers pause and forced the decision to supply a backup plan in case things went disastrously awry.
There is very little doubt that Coldplay would’ve been more than capable of rising to the occasion in an arena that requires instinctual excellence – based on their immaculate track record – but this is America.
We get what we want – especially when dollar signs are involved – so Beyonce has been added to the schedule and based on the response to the news – it’s clear that this very strategic move has already paid off in more ways than one.
Jay Z’s better half already proved her chops when she brought the field to its knees at the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show in New Orleans. Her Destiny’s Child cohorts – Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, also accompanied her.
The awesome part of this newly devised partnership stems from the fact that Beyonce is actually quite friendly with front man Chris Martin and his former wife actress Gwyneth Paltrow – so the threat of any weirdness is instantly gone.
Plus, both Beyonce and Coldplay worked together during the recording of the band’s latest LP – A Head Full of Dreams.
Aside from Beyonce, Bruno Mars who previously commanded the stage at the Super Bowl XLVIII halftime show will also make his triumphant return, which can be categorized as profoundly epic – when you digest the company he will be keeping.
