The people have spoken! And what they have to say for the most part makes a lot of sense.
On Wednesday night, stars from film, television, and music came together to represent the industry responsible for their ever-flowing success as well as to honor the wishes of die-hard fans that have the power to make or break their careers.
The Red Carpet brimmed with familiar faces and once the festivities got under way – the lucky stars made their way to the stage to accept proof of their privileged status.
Winners of the night included Sandra Bullock for Favorite Movie Actress; her one time co-star Melissa McCarthy took home the Best Comedic Movie Actress award, and Favorite Comedic TV Actress.
Channing Tatum walked away with Favorite Movie Actor, while Kevin Hart nabbed the Favorite Comedic Movie Actor honor.
The Big Bang Theory made out okay with wins for Favorite TV Show, Favorite Network TV Comedy and a Favorite Comedic TV Actor win for Jim Parsons.
Grey’s Anatomy was recognized for in the Favorite Network TV Drama and star Ellen Pompeo won the Favorite Dramatic TV Actress award.
Taylor Swift maintained her stance as Favorite Pop Artist, Gwen Stefani’s new man, Blake Shelton claimed Favorite Male Country Artist and The Weeknd nabbed Favorite R&B Artist.
The list goes on and on and host Jane Lynch was able to get through the gig without a hitch despite the renegade character that stormed the stage in an attempt to steal the thunder from the women of The Talk who were in the middle of accepting the award for Favorite Daytime TV Hosting Team. He was unsuccessful and was promptly given the heave-ho by none other than Sharon Osbourne.
But the most touching moment of the night arrived during Vin Diesel’s acceptance of not one but two awards on behalf of the cast and crew of the global phenomenon and beloved franchise – Furious 7.
Diesel was understandably emotional as he was hit with the realization that the film nabbed Favorite Movie and Favorite Action Movie – a feat that would have been unfathomable two years ago when the tragic death of longtime friend and co-star Paul Walker in a car crash during Thanksgiving break literally shut down production for indefinitely.
Diesel as always paid respect to his brother and partner-in-crime and also gave a shout out to his family at Universal Studios who he credited for their support and loyalty to the franchise.
He ended his tribute by lending his vocals to the theme song that propelled Furious 7 to astounding heights. See You Again by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth, conceived in honor of Walker, was the perfect send off for the character of Brian O’Connor and helped to give his grieving fans the closure they deserved.
