H&M has evolved into a cultural necessity especially when it comes to saving us from last minute invites or making us look like we just raided the closet of our favorite designer.
It can be challenging wading through the maddening crowd while trying to quickly sort out the fab from the not so fab, but the end result is always more than worth it and you don’t have to fast for a week as punishment for your bag of goodies. It’s always a win win situation and the Swedish retailer is feeling the love on both sides of the pond and that’s why they have decided to take on a venture of mammoth proportions.
It’s been almost 12 years since H&M invaded the U.S. and opened their first store on Fifth Avenue in NYC and that led to a series of expansions nationwide as the growing appeal for the retail chain showed no signs of slowing down. Daniel Kulle, the U.S. president for H&M confirmed to WWD that based on the elaborate performance of the New York City market, it only makes sense to capitalize on the encouraging climate by erecting a bigger store not far from the already existing Fifth Avenue address.
The new flagship store will be stationed on 48th street, just three blocks away from the inaugural base. It will comprise of six levels and will basically cover the whole gamut of offerings including a home collection, maternity wear, cosmetics newborn apparel, and even lingerie.
Nice to know it wont be big for nothing! This will be heaven of earth for those of us who crave one stop shopping hubs! If this is H&M’s way of thanking New Yorkers for their longstanding loyalty, we oblige!
There is no official date yet but we can expect to welcome the towering wonderland sometime next year.
