Uber stylist June Ambrose is a pro when it comes to effortlessly creating the perfect elements that make for an overall flawless package from head to toe. And her rolodex is bursting with an impressive number of celeb devotees who trust her keen eye and fashion sensibility.
But unfortunately it doesn’t seem that her admirable capabilities convincingly translate on the small screen. Following in the footsteps of another sought after stylist and entrepreneur Rachel Zoe, Ambrose answered the call to duty when she was offered her very own show and expectations were high but so far the deliverables have been less than satisfactory.
There is a stark contrast between the artistry behind The Rachel Zoe Project on BRAVO versus Ambrose’s more diluted version on VH1. The cameras basically stalk Rachel Zoe as she juggles her empire and global demands effortlessly while also making time for life’s necessities like having a baby. June Ambrose so far has been assigned clients that are obviously using her as an opportunity to restore the light in their dimmed careers.
Aside from the peek into the controlled chaos behind the scenes, there really isn’t anything enticingly glamorous or particularly enlightening about Styled by June.
It would be nice to see Ambrose in her element, dictating style trends, directing her astute protégés and capably navigating her eclectically populated kingdom.
But until then this unimpressionable project is stuck in a maze of clichés and predictability.
