Trendy Bits: Jim Carrey’s Ex-Girlfriend Found Dead and Paul Walker’s Daughter Sues Porsche

The ex-girlfriend of comedic actor Jim Carrey was found dead in her Los Angles apartment on Monday night.

Cathriona White whose exact age is unknown but has been placed in the 28-30 range, apparently took her own life and left a suicide note that referenced Carrey.

Los Angeles deputy coroner, Ed Winter confirmed that it is likely White died of a drug overdose based on the fact that there were pill bottles at the scene – but a final determination is pending.

White was a make-up artist who hailed from Ireland. According to TMZ she and Carrey started dating back in 2012 but the relationship eventually dissolved. But the two were spotted together this past May – sparking rumors that they were possibly reconciling but they reportedly split again last week.

Carrey, 53, shared his utter devastation by releasing a statement to USA TODAY, where he expressed his “shock” At the “passing of my sweet Cathriona”. He went on to describe her “as a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled”.

In equally sad and tragic news, the daughter of the late Fast and Furious star Paul Walker is suing Porsche in a wrongful death lawsuit over the horrific car crash that killed her father and the driver of the vehicle, Walker’s friend and racing partner Roger Rodas.

Both men were killed almost two years ago over Thanksgiving break when Rodas who was behind the wheel of a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT lost control and crashed the car into a tree. The impact caused the luxury sports car to erupt in flames. Both men died at the scene.

Meadow Walker, 16, filed the papers on Monday – and in it she accuses Porsche of negligence for manufacturing a car that wasn’t equipped to ensure the safety of passengers, and as a result was incapable of “preventing the accident or, at a minimum, allowing survivability for Paul Walker”. There is also the matter of how fast Rodas was driving. Officials stand by their assessment that Rodas was driving at least 90 mph, which is way above the speed limit but the lawsuit disputes this by alleging that the car’s speed did not exceed 71 mph.

This isn’t the first lawsuit being filed in regards to the tragic accident, in 2014, Kristine Rodas, Rodas’ widow also took Porsche to task – claiming the car her late husband was driving lacked safety features but the carmaker refuted the claims and steadfastly blamed Rodas’ negligence and reckless driving for the crash.

In response to Meadow Walker’s lawuit, Porsche released a statement that once again places the blame on Rodas: “As we have said before, we are sad whenever anyone is hurt in a Porsche vehicle, but we believe the authorities’ reports in this case clearly establish that this tragic crash resulted from reckless driving and excessive speed”.

Regardless of the outcome – the situation remains a heart-wrenching reminder of the pain both families are enduring after the violent loss of both Walker and Rodas.

In a statement released by Meadow Walker’s lawyer, Jeff Milam, it was detailed that she authorized the filing “on her own behalf” and as heir to “Paul Walker’s’ estate.

The grieving teen has pretty much maintained a very low profile since the sudden loss of her father and has regulated her public interactions via social media with affecting images to mark her father’s birthday or the anniversary of his death.

She recently established The Paul Walker Foundation to commemorate what would have been Walker’s 42^nd birthday.
