2016 is turning out to be the year none of us ever want to relieve. The death of icons is inevitable. But with the year barely half way in – the losses thus far have been mind-boggling and scarily catastrophic.
And now we greet Thursday morning with the news of the passing of legendary pop icon Prince – who has been reportedly found dead at his recording studio in his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota.
The diminutive wonder may have been small in stature but his catalogue of hits placed him among the greats of his generation and inspired legions of artists that owe him their careers for the sheer fact that he existed.
The details surrounding his shocking death are still being sorted but earlier this month, the Purple Rain singer had to be rushed to the hospital after the plane he was traveling in was forced to make an emergency landing in Illinois.
The incident forced him to cancel several concerts but despite being sidelined – the 80’s icon seemed to be in good spirits and was reportedly treated for symptoms associated with the flu and released three days later.
On Thursday morning – the Carver County Sheriff’s department was alerted about a death at Paisley Park. TMZ confirmed that Prince had been found dead. No further details have been released about the cause of death.
