It was four years ago today, that the world was greeted with the tragic news of Whitney Houston’s death. After years of drug abuse, the singer drowned in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton during the weekend of The Grammy Awards back in 2012.
Sadly, the story got even more bizarre and heartbreaking when Houston’s only child, Bobbi Kristina was also found in a similar state last January but her death came five months later.
The fairytale emergence of one of the most influential and revered musical icons of our time dimmed when the girl with a voice like no other – succumbed to the effects of dire dependency. But her legacy remains secure and unmatched thanks to the vibrant catalogue she left behind.
What better way to celebrate a life eternal – than to highlight the tunes that best capture why Whitney Houston was the greatest of them all!
Our all time fave! This is even more poignant when you consider that Whitney was pregnant with Bobbi Kristina at the time the video was shot
A gorgeous ballad that takes us back to that place…
No trip down memory lane is complete without this stunner! Her range was spectacular. The movie was okay but the soundtrack was all Whitney!
She was just getting started and anyone who saw this for the first time must’ve known she was headed to the stars and beyond. The video is old and sounds it too. But her voice still soars…
This is special for reasons beyond her obvious shortcomings. It came from the heart which was always Whitney’s source of strength. She never stopped trying. And we will always remember her that way.
