Idris Elba may have been deprived of Oscar glory – but so far the British actor isn’t sulking in a corner with bitterness and regret.
Idris Elba
Elba has been enjoying the awards circuit both at home and abroad and with good reason. His riveting performance as a dangerously egoistical drill sergeant who recruits child soldiers in Netflix’s Beasts of No Nation simply couldn’t go unnoticed and just because the Academy is happy to turn a blind eye doesn’t mean he is out of luck.
After recently garnering best supporting actor at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Elba picked up a best actor trophy at the London Evening Standard British Film Awards this past Sunday.
The gorgeous 43-year-old won the prize at the expense of fellow actors Michael Fassbender who was nominated for performances in Steve Jobs as well as Macbeth as well as Tom Courtenay who was recognized for his torturous role in 45 Years.
Elba’s win is another major victory for the Hollywood hunk and hopefully proof that being robbed of an Oscar nomination is certainly not the end of the world.
Life goes on – and when you look as good as Idris Elba – life is actually better than good.
It’s great!
