John Galliano has been slowly solidifying his comeback after being banished from the kingdom and losing coveted position as the creative director of Christian Dior back in 2011, after his drunken racist rant against Jews was caught on film and shopped around for the sole purpose of destroying the famed designer.
The objective was achieved initially but expectedly, the industry has a soft spot for anyone who has the unmatchable ability to turn any piece of cloth into a priceless gem.
Galliano is back with a vengeance and it is safe to assume that all is forgiven. After being given the honor of creative director at Maison Martin Margiela this past October, the fashion brand under the umbrella of Italy’s Only The Brave (OTB), Galliano is ready to unveil is very first collection which will be a high-brow presentation titled ‘Artisanal’.
The haute couture offering will debut in London on January 12, 2015 and it should be the global stamp of approval that Galliano deserves and needs in order to take things to another level via expansion and campaigns.
Just recently, Galliano made an appearance at the British Fashion Awards in London to honor Anna Wintour with the Outstanding Achievement award. Wintour, editor-in-chief of American Vogue took to the stage decked out in a Margiela creation, which seemed like a silent endorsement to the man who is about to take flight again after being forced to lay low.
Another major supporter, Renzo Rosso, president of (OTB) group which also owns Maison Martin Margiela expressed why Galliano is the perfect choice for the fashion house, “John Galliano is one of the greatest, undisputed talents of all time. A unique, exceptional couturier for a Maison that always challenged and innovated the world of fashion. I look forward to his return to create that fashion dream that only he can create, and wish him to here find his new home”.
