Trendy Film Report: Christian Bale to Play Steve Jobs in Upcoming Biopic

Aaron Sorkin, who has garnered an impressive roster of hits under his belt including The West Wing and his most recent gem, The Newsroom just confirmed in a Bloomberg Television interview that actor Christian Bale is slated to portray Apple’s late co-founder Steve Jobs in a film based on a Walter Isaacson’s 2011 biography titled Steve Jobs.

Sorkin’s screenplay will receive first-class treatment under the tutelage of famed director Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Slumdog Milliionaire), while Scott Rudin is set to produce.

Bale, who will be seen in the soon to be released epic Exodus: Gods and Kings, directed by Ridley Scott, seems like the obvious choice for a role that will undoubtedly test his already proven level of versatility.

Sorkin expressed his confidence and support for Bale who beat out the likes of Ben Affleck, Bradley Cooper and Leonardo DiCaprio who were all in talks to portray Jobs, “We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range and that’s Chris Bale”. “He didn’t have to audition. Well, there was a meeting”.

And there you have it! The much-anticipated film begins production in a couple of months, which means that it’s projected release might be late next year.

We will be waiting with bated breath!
