Who knew Old Navy’s popularity would soar beyond North American territory? It looks like the retail chain is ready to spread its tentacles, and its first conquest happens to be Japan.
The island of Odaiba will play host to a new themed park Old Navy store that will be nestled in the middle of an existing shopping complex. It seems a little over-the-top for such a non-descript label, but Masahiro Matsuda, vice president of Gap Japan is committed to making sure potential consumers are thoroughly satisfied and engaged. The busy mother who refuses to sacrifice her passion for fashion is the customer that Matsuda hopes to gauge. But he emphasizes that the store will be set up to cater for a well-rounded crowd without any limitations.
Obviously Old Navy is headed in the right direction if an international expansion is on the agenda.
Hopefully they are not biting off more than they can chew!
