Here we are again, remembering and paying tribute to our dearly departed songbird, Aaliyah, who left us way too soon.
At just 22, Aaliyah Dana Houghton had achieved monumental success and was fast becoming a triple threat, dominating every major genre in the industry with ease and grace. But that wasn’t hard to imagine considering her infectious smile, seductive personality and immense talent. Her easy breezy approach to her projects made everything she did look so effortless, and of course her intoxicating beauty didn’t hurt either.
We can spend this day trying to imagine what would have been if Aaliyah hadn’t boarded the ill-fated plane that cut her life short just when she was reaping the benefits of all her hard work. But that would be a crippling exercise that leads to futile results, instead we need to celebrate the fact that she lived life on her terms and died realizing all her dreams and aspirations.
Some of us never get that privilege, and the fact that she accomplished so much so young is a true testament to that old adage; “Only the Good Die Young”.
Rest Easy Aaliyah!
