Yesterday, on the CBS show This Morning, the former Queen of Daytime, Oprah Winfrey who had spent the last decade basking in the glory of her unfathomable success and unyielding momentum, admitted after months of intense scrutiny and speculation, that she had bitten off more than she can chew when she decided to launch her very own network before she was ready for takeoff.
Winfrey explained to her loyal bestie Gayle King and co-anchor Charlie Rose, that she was hesitant about moving forward with a venture that obviously needed “all hands on deck” to help guide it through the astronomical challenges that lay ahead. But like a nervous bride who desperately wants to avoid the walk down the aisle but feels obligated due to all the hype and eager onlookers, Winfrey decided against her better judgment to hatch the golden egg before it was mature enough to bear the harsh atmosphere the world of television thrives in.
The consequences have been a learning experience for Oprah, who must have also bought into her larger than life persona and believed that she could miraculously produce a TV channel before saying goodbye to her highly successful talk show and before having the time and focus needed to nurture her infant until it at least hits the toddler stage.
Oprah became a phenomenon due to her winning ability to convince the masses to own up to their shortcomings instead of running away from them.
It’s nice to see her taking her OWN advice.
