When Eddie Murphy hinted last year that he was working on bringing back the vehicle that drove him directly into stardom, he apparently meant it.
It has been confirmed that CBS with the help of Shawn Ryan (The Shield) and Sony TV, will breathe life into Axel Foley in the form of a TV pilot slated to hit the airwaves fall 2013.
This is exciting news for die-hard fans who will appreciate the opportunity to enjoy the antics of the beloved Detroit cop who turned Beverly Hills inside out. It’s also great news for Murphy who had hoped to star in the 4th installment of the blockbuster but was disappointed with the lackluster movie scripts he reviewed.
So hopefully a TV show will do the trick! The logline will focus on Axel Foley’s son, also a police officer, who battles to keep the bad guys away from the rich guys while also trying to avoid living in his famous father’s shadow.
Murphy will also make an appearance in the pilot as expected, and if the project gets the green light, he will most likely settle into a recurring role.
Let’s hope they bring back the catchy theme brilliantly conceived by Harold Faltmeyer, it just won’t be the same without it!
