Its Gatsby time! Finally The Great Gatsby will have its silver screen moment at the 66th Cannes Film Festival, on May 15th.
The Baz Luhrmann masterpiece, stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby, a romantically tormented figure, whose dangerous liaisons are vocally presented by his sidekick Nick Carraway, played by Tobey Maguire. Carey Mulligan depicts the woman at the focal point of all the youthful restlessness, Daisy Buchanan.
The story is vibrantly tragic and beautifully chaotic enough to entice a director of Luhrmann’s caliber. Set in the Roaring 20’s era, the story revolves around the boisterously privileged sect who dominated the lush landscapes of the East Coast.
This is the second time Luhrmann is being given the distinguished honor to open at the Cannes Film Festival, Moulin Rouge! got the same treatment back in 2001.
The film will also be screened in 3D, which should make for joyously interactive viewing.
Beautiful costumes, a gorgeous cast and a soundtrack orchestrated by Jay-Z; what more could anyone ask?
