Now that we’ve bid Adieu to 2012, its time to focus on the New Year and all the goodies that will be on display courtesy of our favorite directors and accompanying performers.
This time last year, we were hearing rumblings of what was to come; from Baz Luhrmann’s eagerly anticipated Great Gatsby to Steve McQueen’s ambitious opus Twelve Years a Slave that pairs him yet again with his former henchman, Michael Fassbender and also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and Brad Pitt, it’s almost guaranteed that we will be adequately entertained. Both films will be making their debuts in 2013 along with a host of equally striking tales starring the very best in the business. Spanish director Pedro Almodovar will be back this spring dishing out refreshingly light-hearted fare; I’m So Excited will showcase his leading lady Penelope Cruz along with Paz Vega and Antonio Banderas.
Industry rebel Lars von Trier will also be back with another project dripping in controversy and coated with sexually exploitive nuances poetically packaged to engage our chaotic senses. Along for the ride will be his equally viable partner in crime, actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, and a host of other heavy hitters, including Stellan Skarsgard, Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell, Christian Slater, Connie Nielsen and William Dafoe.
