Selma, Alabama will welcome the name behind the movie that resurrected the glory of Martin Luther King Jr. for a generation that wasn’t adequately privy to the legacy cemented by the late civil rights activist.
According to Paramount, Oprah Winfrey who serves as producer, director Ava DuVernay and star David Oyelowo are committed to marching in Selma to celebrate the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. this coming Sunday.
The Studio confirmed that this will be in effort to highlight the main themes of the movie Selma, which draws attention to King’s endearing contribution to the civil rights movement – including securing Selma’s quest for voting rights back in 1965.
This will be an all day event that will include a panel discussion at Selma High School.
Paramount will also host free screenings of Selma to cap off the recognition of Martin Luther King Day.
