Chris Rock and Wife Malaak are Calling it Quits

Everyone is quite saddened by the surprise announcement of the demise of comedian and actor Chris Rock’s marriage after it was confirmed that they are both divorcing after almost 20 years together.

Rock and wife Malaak Compton-Rock have two daughters – Lola Simone, 12 and Zahra Savannah, 10 and it looks like despite the general sentiment – this wasn’t a rush decision.

Rock’s soon to be ex-wife told People magazine that the couple carefully weighed their options before concluding that it was best for them to go their separate ways.

“After much contemplation and 19 years of marriage, Chris and I have decided to go our separate ways”. “While recognizing that this is a significant change, my children remain at the center of my life and their well-being is my top priority”.

Despite her husband’s success as an entertainer, Compton-Rock is also quite accomplished in the world of philanthropy, and even founded styleWorks, a non-profit that helps women make the transition from welfare to the workforce.

It is never good news to hear of a couple’s impending divorce but by Hollywood standards this would be considered a resounding success
