It’s officially on! Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o is proving that her soaring popularity isn’t waning anytime soon. Just mere weeks after garnering the highest honor in the land, Nyong’o is being seriously considered for the female lead in the latest installment of the Star Wars saga.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the feted actress met with director J.J. Abrams a few weeks before the Oscars to discuss business. Not much has been divulged about the role itself or how it will factor in with the other legendary characters, but some are speculating that if she secures the part, she will likely play the descendant of Obi-Wan-Kenobi.
Only time will tell how the particulars will unfold in the coming weeks, but one thing is for sure – Nyong’o isn’t planning on being a flash in the pan. The Mexican-borm Kenyan actress is also in the running to star opposite Bond hottie, Daniel Craig in The Whole Truth, a courtroom thriller.
It’s thrilling to see Nyong’o not resting on her laurels after her Best Supporting Actress win for 12 Years a Slave, and we can’t wait to witness her career trajectory. We suspect it’s going to be quite a ride!
