President Barack Obama has been named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year for second time.
He was bequeathed the title in 2008 after he dazzled the nation and stunned the world with his good looks, instinctive aptitude and leadership stamina. His ascension to the highest office in the land was an almost celestial anointing and an accurate snapshot of the evolving melting pot that had been slowly brewing. Obama’s win was also an indicator that America was now populated with a more dynamic demographic.
The President’s recent victory over the GOP’s proposed savior, Mitt Romney in what proved to be a brutally invasive election is proof that despite a lackluster economy and eroded temperaments, there is still a level of respect and confidence in the man that despite all the odds, is still standing tall and strong.
There was some competition in this vital category, 15-year-old Pakistani activist Malala Youfsafzai, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Italian physicist Fabiola Gianotti and Egyptian president Moahmed Morsi all came close but the honor ultimately went to the enigma of the moment.
