Living in New York City as a struggling writer and working a day job that barely pays the bills is the mirrored template of so many talented artists who will do whatever it takes to realize their dreams.

It’s always a welcomed respite when you come into contact with someone who can inspire you in a way that is both refreshing and unexpected.
The digital age has introduced a plethora of opportunities and capabilities beyond even my wildest imagination and the key is to find ways to utilize these advantages in a purposeful manner that befits whatever goals you have laid out.
My goal is to hop on the networking train and make the necessary stops that will eventually lead me to the ultimate destination of career fulfillment and social enlightenment. I have always believed in visual manifestation and the moment that I was spellbound by Bevy Smith when she appeared on BRAVO’s Chef Roble and Co, was the moment I knew that she would be a reckoning force in my life.
Thanks to Twitter, and my unshakable faith, I was lucky enough to connect with the media innovator, and that led to an invitation to a life-changing event, that turned out to be exactly what the doctor ordered.
Life with Vision hosted by Bevy Smith, a Harlem raised socialista, whose vibrant resume has given her the keys to all things FAB both at home and abroad was brilliantly executed and attracted an immaculately distinctive crowd. Her Cool, Calm and Collected demeanor has put her in the enviable position of being able to count such celebs as Pharrell Williams, Solange Knowles, Charlize Theron and Kerry Washington as guaranteed guests whenever she feels obliged to host her prestigious “Dinner with Bevy” sessions.
Considering her meteoric rise to the top and the high-profile jobs she expertly juggled, Smith’s self-made mantra is absolutely the stuff dreams are made of. Suffice it to say, she is not necessarily a rarity but what sets her apart is her kinetically generous tendencies.
After garnering legions of Twitter followers, and gauging the proprietary influence she could potentially have on young eager minds hungry for direction and encouragement, she came up with the genius idea to launch Dining with Bevy: Life with Vision.
The inaugural event took flight Saturday, June 30th, at Aureole, NYC and as a lucky attendee and bright-eyed observer; I can report that it was an absolute success. The venue was populated with charismatic, ambitious and steadily accomplished young women who were carefully handpicked for this momentous occasion. We all shared the commonality of being on a journey of self-discovery and this was just the detour we needed to experience a level of rejuvenation that only a select few get to indulge in.
Bevy Smith utilized the allotted time responsibly, by opening up her treasure chest of secrets and life lessons and she was supported by an equally formidable force in media, Editor-at-Large at Essence Magazine, Emil Wilbekin.
All in all, it was the kind of bonding session that elevated me to another stratosphere and exposed me to a parade of possibilities both professionally and personally.
Bevy Smith is a dynamic originator who understands the importance of connecting all the right dots, so they can light up and produce an undeniable masterpiece.
I am beyond elated that I got to be one of those intricate dots that assembled last Saturday to symbolize the power and joy of sharing one common goal; to respectfully conquer the world!
