Charlie Hebdo is refusing to back down despite the horrific attack at their offices that ended the lives of 8 employees almost a week ago.
The decision to go back to work wasn’t an easy endeavor according to Richard Malka who spoke to France Info radio about the need to keep their signature regimen intact, “We will not give in otherwise all this won’t have meant anything”. “Humor without self-depreciation isn’t humor. We mock ourselves, politicians, religions, it’s a state of mind you need to have…The Charlie state of mind is the right to blaspheme”.
Based on Malka’s statement, it isn’t surprising that the sneak peek of Wednesday’s issue depicts the likeness of Muhammed the “Je Suis Charlie” sign with a pensive look on his face.
There will be more than three million copies printed according to French publishers, Liberation.
This is no better way to fight senseless violence than by using the vices being perpetuated as fuel for injustice as a tool for reparation.
