The death of legendary comedian Joan Rivers was a huge blow to many who spent a good portion of their lives being entertained by her signature antics.
It was also a massive loss to the series that put E! on the map for all things hilariously cool. Fashion Police, introduced Rivers to a younger audience who fell in love with the her brash delivery and uncanny ability to bring big names to task for not living up to the anticipated expectations.
She was the Captain running the ship with her eager deck hands who were working overtime to keep up. When the show made its debut back in 2010 it was unclear if this was going to be a winning formula but it didn’t take long for Rivers’ to prove that she was the ideal candidate for the job.
The hope is that her worthy replacement and equally “fearless” entertainer, Kathy Griffin will be able to bring her own blend of comedic athleticism to the already seasoned platform. A supporting cast comprised of newbie Brad Goreski and old timers, Giuliana Ranci and Kelly Osbourne, will join her when Fashion Police returns Jan.12.
Griffin stopped by the Today show to discuss how she will begin laying down the foundation in an attempt to woo audiences and still maintain the stamina of her late predecessor.
The former Suddenly Susan cast member fostered a close friendship with Rivers and admitted to host Savannah Guthrie on Monday that her late pal “left big shoes to fill”. “And I’m bringing my own slippers”.
Griffin also made it clear that she and her mentor are quite alike but she does have an affinity for not having much of a filter which is a characteristic she will be transferring to her new gig. She is also banking on a consistent array of the outrageous on the red carpet especially with award season fast approaching.
It is hard to imagine this funny woman being a disappointment when it comes to shamelessly humbling over-bloated celebrities – but more than anything we can’t wait to see how good she looks while doing it!
