Spanish director, Pedro Almodovar recently made an important confirmation to the Financial Times regarding his upcoming film and it falls in line with the current theme of inspired feminism.
The filmmaker with frequent collaborator, Penelope Cruz
Most of us believe 2014 was the year when women soared and the hope is that this will be a sustained temperament. From politics to entertainment, there was every indication that strong, sexy and purposeful females can “rule the world” and still maintain their feminine wiles.
Almodovar knows a lot about the glorious complications of women, which he has successfully etched into most of his offerings, including standouts like High Heels, All About My Mother and Volver, through the immense talents of his leading ladies, particularly actress Penelope Cruz, who has served as his loyal collaborator since she began her career.
Now, we are being given a snippet of what is to come as the famed filmmaker begins work on a film that will be titled Silencio, and in his words, it will be “a return to the cinema of women”. The main character will be a female lead that will undoubtedly be immersed in the complexities that are typical of Almodovar’s female protagonists.
When asked why he chose Silencio as the title, his reply convinces us that this will be a flick worth keeping track of, “It’s called Silencio because that’s the principal element that drives the worst things that happen to the main female protagonist”.
