Fashion Week fever didn’t end in Europe, the train chugged along to other vibrantly enhanced territories and this time the destination is Tokyo, Japan.
The decadence was immaculately illustrated as raging themes of youthful indulgence and gorgeous rebellion dominated the runway.
The two designers we decided to highlight; Beautiful People and Jun Okamoto have demonstrated their allegiance to the trends of the moment but somehow they have managed to divulge their unique interpretations in ways that are both stimulating and enlightening.
The “Mad Men” hysteria definitely took center stage at Hidenori Kumakiri’s showing for Beautiful People, even the ambiance was set up to evoke the laid back chic that conquered the 60’s era. The models, equipped with cigars inhabited the shift dresses, cropped pants and swing coats with methodical elegance.
Then there was the collection from Jun Okamoto, that seemed to embrace the girlish charm that always manifests at the right time for all the right reasons.
It was a parade overflowing with a confection of prints matched with more sedate hues.
The takeaway was the reassurance that fashion is still universally expressive and kinetically charged no matter where your passport disperses you.
