Kanye West has made a name as the renegade of the music industry. Temper tantrums, sudden outbursts and public declarations have all contributed to his public persona.
But he has never shied away from pushing the limits and that’s why it’s accurate to rate him as one of the most thorough artists of our time. He has always consistently made his rounds during fashion week, and his own personal style has juxtaposed from the street smart 80’s to the now modern edgy eclipse. So it makes complete sense that he would be inspired to display his interpretation of fashion just as he has provided us with his distinct brand of musical genius.
He chose a dramatic venue for his unveiling, the Lycee Henri IV, during Paris Fashion Week and his show while entertaining didn’t illicit the “wow” factor. But there were a lot of pieces that echoed how West likes to see his women dressed. Leather, zippers, cleavage, and ribbing were the themes that rocked the runway. The dresses were skintight and some of them were slashed to show off just the right amount of skin to make any male swoon.
Ever the hip-hop disciple, he made sure to include the gold standard in the accessories as well as the significant fur detail.
All in all, Kanye West didn’t inspire with his collection, in fact he borrowed a few staples from the designers he has always pledged allegiance to. But it does confirm the fact that West is enjoying the privileges that come with being a world-class celebrity. The sky is always the limit.
