It was inevitable. The Kardashian/Jenner Klan have never been shy when it comes to perpetuating the notion that the universe revolves around them.
But once in awhile – someone who knows better finds a way to remind the botoxed and generously implanted family members that they can’t always get what they want.
In this case – the mission has been assigned to Australian superstar Kylie Minogue who is fighting tooth and nail to prevent Kylie Jenner from trademarking her first name in the U.S.
The reason is quite simple. Minogue has been around a lot longer than her teenage namesake and thus has racked up a pretty impressive resume, which could be threatened by Jenner’s need to enhance her relevancy.
KDB, the company repping Minogue has made it clear that Jenner is no position to file a trademark application because her status as it stands doesn’t warrant such actions. She’s a “secondary reality television personality” who seems to be a bone of contention for the African-American community among others.
Kylie Minogue on the other hand is a global sensation and has owned the domain – kylie.com since Aug. 21 1996.
Minogue also took to Twitter to respond to Jenner’s filing last week: “Hello…My name is Kylie #lightyears”. Light Years was her hit song from 2000.
There is no telling how far this will go but it’s obvious which “Kylie” most of us are rooting for – her last name starts with “M”.
