Erykah Badu has definitely proven that she is a woman of many talents so her latest gig fits in line with her real life blueprint.
The former Givenchy campaign model is now headed to fashion week where she will lend her expertise to Pyer Moss’s Fall 2016 collection for his February 13 show.
Badu, who has a habit of turning everything she touches to pure gold is ready to pull up her sleeves and plot some killer grooves and meshes with brand’s designer, Kerby Jean-Raymond, hopefully to continue the delightfully controversial aesthetic that graced the Spring 2016 show.
Jean-Raymond made headlines due to his thought-provoking presentation that relied heavily on the message supported by the Black Lives Matter movement. His models walked down the runway donning footwear that was meant to evoke the blood of the lives that have been senselessly lost due to the ongoing crisis brought on by police brutality. Aside from his searing themes, the general mood of Jean-Raymond’s designs is rooted in stylistic edgy conformity that evokes an almost otherworldly quality.
Badu’s involvement should help elevate whatever is already in place, especially since the singer and actress who just debuted her film The Land at Sundance has always played by her own rules when it comes to the ever evolving world of fashion.
Is it even possible for the artist who helped make Hot Bling a hot commodity to be cooler than she already is? We’re guessing no!
