Vin Diesel is going to be a very busy man in the next couple of years. The action star may be rapidly approaching fifty but he is more determined than ever to maximize the remaining good years he’s got left. And he’s got a lot of them!
A few weeks ago, Diesel who keeps a very active Facebook page – gave his fans the news of his return to the xXx franchise and subsequently began to share images related to the project. He is currently in production for xXx: The Return of Xander Cage and word has it that he will be artfully exchanging blows with none other than Chinese martial arts icon and actor Jet Li. Samuel L. Jackson is rumored to be joining the cast.
Either way we’re pretty sure this will be one of the most highly anticipated movies of whatever year it’s assigned. No release date has been confirmed yet.
But we do know when we can expect to “Ride or Die” again with the cast of the next film in the globetrotting Fast and Furious franchise. Diesel dropped the deets over the weekend by unveiling the official poster and title that confirms the primary location of New York.
The tagline: New Roads Ahead alludes to the beginning of a new trilogy that will eventually complete the chapter of the long-running saga. The film which drops April 2017, may also have a stint in Cuba – if the producers are able to successfully negotiate an amicable deal with the various parties involved.
No word yet on what the plotline will entail but we can rest assured that we won’t be disappointed as long as Straight Outta Compton director, F. Gary Gray remains at the helm.
Obviously, the absence of Paul Walker who was tragically killed in a car crash during Thanksgiving break in 2013, while the seventh installment was underway, leaves a gaping hole that can’t be filled – but the honorable send off for – Brian O’Connor – should make the transition relatively easier for fans to bear.
Unfortunately,we have to wait until 2017 to get those engines revved up again. Let the counting begin!
