Fox News has perfected the art of biased reportage – and despite their shaky track record, when it comes to compilation of facts, they have managed to remain a somewhat validated news source for those who are in need of mental conformity.
Anne Hidlago – Paris Mayor on CNN
But it looks the news cable is about to feel the sting of their often times careless operation as it appears there were some serious inaccuracies that will lead to a lawsuit.
It looks like the segments that concentrated on the so-called “no-go-zones” that supposedly restricted the entry of non-Muslims in a certain area of Paris wasn’t well received by the City of Lights, and the government is setting up a course of retaliation.
This will be in the form of a lawsuit and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo provided an outline to CNN’s Christiane Amanpour. HIdlago highlighted the fact that the city of Paris has been “prejudiced” by the outlandish claims that definitely aim to make an already heightened situation boil over.
Fox News did acknowledge their mistake but it’s a little too late to have an impact – but the question is how successful the City of Paris will be in their quest.
Clearly, free speech is a precious commodity that automatically protects Fox News, on this side of the pond, since they are within their rights to express views that could be potentially slanderous. But it seems the suit could hold water if it is being ordained in the French courts – especially since they obviously have a low tolerance for over the top reporting that can’t be substantiated with proof. There is also the likelihood that European court (EU) could be utilized, which would immediately escalate the urgency of the issue.
At the end of the day, regardless of the circumstance – Fox News will not have access to France when it comes to covering stories and this could possibly carryover to other countries and that could present a huge problem.
But as they say – “you make your bed, so you lie”.
