The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is always a celebrated event that honors artists who have left an indelible mark on the landscape of pop culture as it pertains to the musical art form.
2014 is a year that will arguably be one of the most prolific when it comes to the nostalgically bloated list of inductees. We are particularly excited about Nirvana, Peter Gabriel, Linda Ronstadt and KISS. Other notables include, Hall and Oates, the E Street Band and Cat Stevens.
The ceremony itself was a vibrant collage of tear-jerking moments, gorgeously implemented performances and tributes by the likes of Coldplay lead singer, Chris Martin, who paid homage to former Genesis member Peter Gabriel, Art Garfunkel who respectfully inducted Cat Stevens, Carrie Underwood who sang her heart out for Linda Ronstadt and Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks who did the same.

But the most satisfying part of the festivities has to be assigned to the segment dedicated to 90’s Anthem Bearers – Nirvana. The tragic death of Kurt Cobain, back in 1993, still stings like a bee, but thankfully his legacy remains intact. The remaining band members, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, Cobain’s longstanding widow, Courtney Love, and his mother and sisters all joined forces to prove that Cobain’s spirit was still very much ablaze. But the real treat was watching Grohl and Novoselic belt out a range of classics that took us back to an era that will always be regarded with astute reverence. And then just when things couldn’t get any better, Joan Jett did justice to the infectious standard, “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon charmed us with her version of “Aneurysm”, and Lorde cast a spell with her rendition of “All Apologies”.
Nirvana!
So much to gloriously sift through; so little time. The immense folders of talent that were paraded this year, is an astounding reminder of the power that lies within those anointed with the capacity to choreograph the soundtrack of our lives in an unforgettable way.
