Sunday night initiated the brighter lights of Broadway as the 67th Annual Tony Awards extended the spotlight to its bevy brilliant and dutiful players who very often toil away without receiving proper accolades and recognition.
Audra McDonald in David Meister
The brilliance of Neil Patrick Harris was once again unleashed upon the starry eyed audience as he graciously piloted the show stationed at Radio City Music Hall and featuring memorable live performances and quick whips from eagerly clad presenters.
The big awards were allotted to Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Kinky Boots that not only managed to snag best musical honors but also gave veteran Popster Cyndi Lauper’s her first Tony for best musical score, and the award for best revival of a play went to Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
But enough with the semantics – through the haze of studious wonder and hopeful understudies dressed in their Sunday best, we managed to gather in the chosen few who lit up the red carpet looking theatrically appropriate.
It was a more subdued showing considering the dramatic tone of the night but these gals certainly didn’t disappoint.
