After his recent resurrection from a prolonged coma, Robin Gibb passed away Sunday at the age of 62 after a long battle with colon cancer.
Gibb, who had surgery back in 2010 to correct his twisted bowel, an ailment that his twin brother Maurice, died from in 2003, seemed to be on the mend until doctors discovered a tumor this past January. The co-founder of the Bee Gees responded well to treatment and announced his “spectacular recovery” on BBC radio a month later. But not long after his declaration, the singer suffered a series of setbacks and in March he was forced to cancel all upcoming projects as he prepared for intestinal surgery. Soon after he went into a coma after contracting pneumonia.
He and his brothers Maurice and Barry were the initiators of some of the most potent anthems of the seventies, scoring numerous hits including Jive Talkin’, and the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever.
His wife, four children and his 91-year old mother, Barbara Gibb, survive him.
