Two of our favorite designers took Paris Fashion Week by storm and we couldn’t wait to profile each of their collections since they both share similar tendencies and themes.
Vivienne Westwood
Costume National
The Grand Dame of all things FAB, Vivienne Westwood, decided to utilize a grittier backdrop for her show but expertly interplayed with laser lights, which helped provide the perfect juxtaposition for a collection that echoed the right sentiments.
As usual, Westwood looked to the days of old to help inspire her tone and the results did not disappoint. Her period of choice was the 17th Century, and the pieces were appealingly exaggerated with diluted amounts of edginess and spunk. Westwood is obviously proud of the monarchial seams that hold her beloved country together and she patriotically implements those themes into her collection.
Ennio Capasa, is another designer who manages to heighten the dramatics while also providing a striking balance between elegance and certified street style.
His collection was leather heavy and the dominant hue was black but it wasn’t a dreary affair. The lines were sensually structured and refreshingly functional.
Both designers are revolutionary in their delivery and the proof is in their final product.
C’est Magnifique!
