It’s that time of year again! Awards season is heating up and as the year comes to an end – the industry is gearing up for another round of non-stop festivities.
The Golden Globes and the Oscars are great and all but when it comes down to it – the voice of the people is what truly matters.
That’s why The People’s Choice Awards holds a special place in the hearts of entertainers who give their all to ensure that only the very best is delivered to their loyal fans.
The nominations were announced on Tuesday at the Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles, and in true fashion it was a vibrant mix of talent from across the board – spanning generations and merging the endearing old timers with the capable newbies.
Furious 7 is proving to be a a force to reckon with after garnering the Blockbuster award at the Hollywood Film Awards this past Sunday. The seventh installment in the lucratively thriving franchise is up for “Favorite Movie” “Favorite Action Movie” and “Favorite Action Star” for Vin Diesel.
It is highly likely that after demolishing the box office and shattering records worldwide – Furious 7 is poised to score wins in the movie categories especially since the road to the finish line was paved with blood, sweat and tears given the fact that Paul Walker who played good cop gone bad, Brian O’Connor tragically died in a car crash in the middle of filming back in 2013. Most of the film’s success is attributed to Walker’s memory and there is no better way to honor the late actor than to make Furious 7 the gift that keeps on giving.
Dwayne Johnson who is also a valued member of the Fast Family is up against fellow cast member Vin Diesel in the Favorite Action Movie Actor category. It is safe to say that he will walk away this one. His rising popularity and down-to-earth persona will surely work in his favor. He is also up for “Favorite Cable TV Actor” and “Favorite Social Media Celebrity”. He will probably win all three!
Madonna is back in the swing of things after the release of her latest effort, Rebel Heart, and after weathering a storm of controversy she is being bequeathed with two nominations – ‘”Favorite Music Icon” which she shares with Prince, Paul McCartney, Steven Tyler and Stevie Wonder and “Favorite Female Artist” – which tosses her in the company of a much younger crew, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato and Lana Del Ray. It is safe to say that America’s Sweetheart – Taylor Swift will charm her way to victory. But Madonna and Paul McCartney will have to duke it out for the “Icon” prize. If it’s up to the people – Madonna may have a better shot at the title.
Actress Michelle Rodriguez definitely understands what it means to “Ride or Die” for the ones you care about and her kick ass rumble with MMA superstar Ronda Rousey in Furious 7 didn’t go unnoticed and will be duly rewarded as she is up for up “Favorite Action Movie Actress”.
As always the roster of nominees is long and imaginative so if you care about the fate of your favorite film and TV stars as well as the ones who give you a valid reason to twerk – then you must cast your by visiting People Choice.com or People’s Choice Facebook page.
