As President Obama eases out of office – his list of accomplishments these past eight years can’t and won’t be minimized to the value of his station as the one and only black president ever.
His unprecedented acceptance into a kingdom of white knights is still a reality that will haunt the legions of candidates that will occupy the house that America built after he vacates.
Aside, from his astute ability to effortlessly make the worst of our problems scatter without a trace – Obama’s influence as the power behind the force of stripping away the grime of the past centuries is impeccably secure.
Hence, his more than timely and ordained trip to Cuba – which has been a long time coming – 88 years to be exact.
The images of the President, the First Lady, Michelle Obama and their two daughters, Malia, 17, and Sasha, 14, walking out of Air Force One towards the tarmac of historical excellence is without a doubt a sight that should remain embedded in a time capsule without any hints of residue.
The Island of Cuba has been waiting for a rescue mission – an antidote to the simmered hysteria that has propelled its residents to anchor a divisive existence that always needed to be eradicated.
Obama’s visit is a hopeful reciprocal that won’t immediately erase the bad blood between the two nations – but perhaps facilitate a new era of heightened awareness and consideration for the generations to come.
It has been confirmed that the president will bypass a meeting with Fidel Castro, which is possibly an indication that the initiation of a more prominent stance for a better tomorrow on the heels of a formatively destructive past – is being taken very seriously.
This should be the birthright that emanates between President Obama and President Raul Castro.
The future at large deserves it.
