Triple threat superstar Jennifer Lopez is taking advantage of the new and exciting landscape of television as she prepares to dazzle fans with her starring role in a new NBC cop drama – Shades of Blue.
The gritty offering directed by Barry Levinson, which also stars veteran Ray Liotta will make it’s highly anticipated debut Jan. 14 2016 on NBC. Once the pilot hits the small screen, it will be moved to its regular slot on Thursdays at 10 pm. Wesley Snipes’ The Player currently occupies that cozy spot but due to consistently poor ratings, it is assumed that his vehicle has already been served its walking papers.
Bad news for Snipes but great news for Lopez who obviously possesses the star power that will surely help to secure the level of viewership that every network hopes for.
Her role as Detective Harlee Santos, a no-nonsense detective, who happens to be a single mother with a tough exterior and softer inner spirit is will give us the opportunity to witness the her flexible acting chops.
Her character is the glue that holds the Brooklyn unit together aided by the resident old-timer, Lt. Matt Wozniak played by Liotta.
This newest addition to the slate is undoubtedly part of a growing network of shows that feature women embodying characters that are meant to match the wits and guts of their male counterparts.
If anyone can make this work – Jlo can – so all we have to do is basically stay tuned!
