Kanye West has never had issues with expressing himself accordingly and we thank God for that! Now that social media has become a breeding ground for self-assigned patrolmen who make it their mission to target anyone who dares to actually think for themselves – it is refreshing that a handful of celebs are unwilling to cater to the masses.
The rapper turned fashion designer is not holding back in his latest interview with SHOWstudio, which contains detailed information about anything you might want to know about the self-professed “creative genius”. By the way, he calls himself that because he believes that is the best way to describe his disposition. If he doesn’t go there with himself – who will?
Fair enough. There is no getting around the fact that as much as some love to hate him, West hasn’t dropped the ball since he came on the scene via his idol Jay Z over a decade ago. And the best part is that he fully owns his right to brag about his enviable success without any reservations.
In the interview, West continues his streak of brutal honesty by divulging why he thinks the fashion industry gave him the initial cold shoulder. “I feel like I got discriminated in fashion for not being gay”. He also cites fellow artist Frank Ocean and commends his occasional collaborator for bursting the stereotypes that plague people of color who happen to be gay and are a part of an industry that isn’t particularly welcoming to that lifestyle.
West also included official family member Caitlyn Jenner who went through a very public transition this year that was carefully documented on E!’s I am Cait. West made an appearance on one of the episodes alongside wife Kim Kardashian West as a way to show support for the woman that makes him “feel proud to be in a family that has so many people breaking ground for generations to come”.
This statement apparently also applies to his declaration that The Kardashians have become an institution in the realm of Reality TV and as such – deserve to be rewarded for this immense contribution with an Emmy.
Of course this isn’t the first time that Kanye West has expressed mad love for the family that miraculously turned the salaciousness of a sex tape into a thriving empire.
And when we take in that realization – it’s hard not to give props to “America’s First Family” for a job well done.
