We already know that celebs are a group of privileged species who are constantly courted and increasingly worshipped. They have global access to VIP events and get paid thousands of dollars for making scheduled appearances. It looks like Fashion Week; one of the hottest tickets in the universe is now one of such events.
Apparently, British designer Nicole Farhi could no longer contain her disdain and decided to vent about this little known fact to the London Telegraph. In the article, she swiftly confirms that a good number of PR firms are now paying celebrities in an effort to guarantee their much valued presence at the shows of their desperate clients. She obviously condemns this growing habit, “It is so unprofessional. I have never paid a celebrity and I will never do it.”
Despite her obvious disloyalty to her peers who wont be too happy with this unwanted exposure, Farhi raises a very valid point. Paying celebs to attend shows during Fashion Week kind of devalues the essence of this cherished tradition.
