Domincan-born Marihenny Rivera, is taking the fashion world by storm, and thanks to her serene exotic features and lithe frame, she was handpicked to open for Giles Deacon for spring 2012 Fashion Week.
British stylist Katie Grand, who helped discover another feline of the catwalk Nasha Matonhodze, is also trying to give Rivera the same fairy tale ending.
Now it looks like the 19-year-old stunner is on her way to being a household name especially after walking for Prada and Marni, and also striking a pose for uber photographers, Richard Burbridge and Paolo Roversi.
Her humble beginnings were rooted in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, where she was constantly told that she resembled Supermodel Naomi Campbell. Armed with that knowledge and with the help of an attentive stepmother, she put her model looks to some good use by experimenting with some of the local photographers in her town. That led to her first model competition, which was hampered by her five-foot seven stature at the time.
Now at five-foot nine, she is the perfect height and build, it also looks like her diet staple of soups and salads is paying off even though she admits to indulging in pizza, burgers, and pastas when the need arises.
Based in New York City at the moment Rivera is now living the life she never imagined but is happy to oblige.
This is definitely a face to watch out for!
