Shoe King, Manolo Blahnik has been bitten by the “Green bug” and the consequences will be to our benefit as he has produced a line of eco-friendly shoes with the help of eco-conscious designer Marcia Patmos.
The new collection billed as Marcia Patmos for Manolo Blahnik will be available spring 2012, and features variations of strappy sandals, flats with the open toe detail, and high-heeled sandals all dipped in functional hues ranging from yellow to a vibrant blue.
Embracing eco-friendly fashion is a noble cause but it’ll cost ya! Each of these pieces of art that are intricately designed with materials that include raffia, cork and raw tilapia skins will be sold at Manolo Blahnik stores for $895.
Patmos is quite happy to be involved in a venture that allows her to encourage the importance of sustainable clothing and accessories, especially in an industry where luxury and decadence rule supreme. She explains to WWD, “I love bringing the idea of sustainability into the luxury market – it doesn’t have to be limited to T-shirts and grocery bags”.
If you can afford a pair, then do your part for the environment and strut around the city in style!
