Moonrise Kingdom To Open Cannes Film Festival

Wes Anderson will now be the second American director after Woody Allen who made his bow last year with Midnight Night in Paris to open one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world.

It has been confirmed that his latest production Moonrise Kingdom, starring some of the industry’s best talents including Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, Bruce Willis and Bill Murray will open the 65^th Cannes Film Festival.

Anderson, whose films have always stepped outside the bounds of the stereotypical and predicable, has successfully distinguished himself as a filmmaker with an irreverent sense of filmmaking that also seems to border on the innovative and stylishly futuristic. He has mentioned Fellini as one of his strongest inspirations, which isn’t much of a shock when you consider his body of work.

Moonrise Kingdom is a Focus Features production and the screenplay was collaboration between Anderson and Roman Coppola.

The film will make its much-anticipated debut on May 16^th in France and will be available in the States on May 25^th.
