Who knew that The Rolling Stones’ most visible and controversial member Mick Jagger had the ability to produce sonnets evoking enough to rival William Shakespeare?
Well…maybe that a little bit of a stretch but there is evidence to prove that the British 60’s poster boy for indulgence was ravaged by love with his secret Brown Sugar, American-born Marsha Hunt. He clearly wrote the song Brown Sugar as an homage to his searing romance with the Hunt. The insatiable affair spurned his first offspring, a daughter Karis, born in 1970. Hunt, who spent her time modeling and dabbling in music, moved to London because at that time it was the Mecca for “Anything Possible” and it obviously proved to be a prolific decision.
The result of her dainty affair with The Rolling Stones frontman during the height of his career was chronicled in the poignant letters he authored while on the set of the film Ned Kelly in Australia.
Hunt realizing their worth is ready to emotionally cash in, and has commissioned the prestigious auction house Sotheby’s to sell the 10 letters, which exude the innocent transparency of a 25-year old, desperately holding on to the vision of true love, however fleeting it might be.
The summer of 1969 has inspired a collage of literary references but it looks like Jaggers’s heightened deliveries will be one of the most outstanding of that period.
The collection naturally includes music lyrics and a roster of songs from the infamous British band.
The forecast calls for an impressive reception in the amount ranging from $111,300 to $159,000. The proceedings will commence on December 12.
