Dear White People – the sleeper hit of 2014 is headed to Netflix. The streaming giant just put in a series order for the adapted show that will bear the same name as the movie.
Justin Simien – who wrote and directed Dear White People – will also direct the series premiere, which is scheduled to debut on Netflix sometime in 2017.
Creed star, Tessa Thompson is definitely on a roll, thanks to her breakout performance in the 2014 sleeper hit Dear White People.
Thompson also starred in the critically-acclaimed and Oscar-nominated film, Selma and she will be prominently featured in HBO’s upcoming series, Westworld.
The Directors Guild of America (DGA) recently confirmed what most wouldn’t find particularly shocking even though the stats are admittedly discouraging. According to Deadline, the latest data reveals that minority women are still lagging way behind Caucasian females and even further behind Caucasian males when it comes to garnering the opportunity to direct their very first episodic TV show.
