Director Luc Besson who specializes in fantastically powerful films centered on delightfully aggressive female leads e.g. Lucy, The Professional, recently announced that he has cast singer and burgeoning actress, Rihanna in his latest epic – Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
There is no word yet on the specific role the proud Bahamian has been assigned but Besson did assure his Instagram followers that she will be prominently featured.
The cast of this ambitious project is bloated with a healthy roster of talent that includes The Amazing Spider Man’s Dane DeHaan, Clive Owen who is currently starring in The Knick on Cinemax and model turned actress Cara Delevingne, who was last seen in this summer’s quite entry – Paper Towns.
The already touted film is scheduled to open on July 21, 2017.
In the meantime the mandatory prep work has already begun with shooting to take place at Besson’s massively decked out studio complex in France.
Besson is has a reputation as a hit maker and there is no reason to believe his latest venture won’t follow suit.
Plus with Rihanna in the mix – he’s likely to continue his winning streak.
