Valentino under the tutelage of Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli is experiencing something of a renaissance with all the pomp and circumstance in order.
Go big or Go home seemed to be the mantra of a collection that was unapologetically immersed in fantastical fare and blinding opulence. The abundance of richly defined textures was chaotically exquisite. Nothing was left to chance as each piece spared with each other for the coveted position of being the brightest of them all. The “white collection” was primly executed as yards of perforated lace dripped the runway. There was also an army of vibrantly airy dresses that swiftly obeyed every breath of movement that could be mustered. The well-conditioned silhouettes formed a kinetic rhythm with the tonal frequencies, which helped enhance the otherworldly quality that dominated the overall theme. The designers cited Italy as their inspiration and it was easy to see how their love for this magnificent destination overrode their faculties.
If the world is a stage – then all players should be decked out in Valentino.
